Where do I start to tell everyone about my Hoss? His mother is CH Friendship’s Carmen Lady of Amy’s Acres. His father is CDC’s Guardian Ranger of Sky Warrior. This was a first time breeding of this pair and it produced two pups, Hoss and his sister Hera were born Sept. 18th 2007. He is now four and a half months old and 50 lbs. I believe that is about average for the breed to gain 10 lbs. a month.

One of our favorite games to play is, Hoss will take off running and I will chase him. He has learned to run in circles because he knows I am old and a bit overweight and if I tire out the game is over. When he thinks I need a rest he hides behind a bush I can’t get behind and waits till I am ready to go and then comes running out and the game is on once again. Hoss has a little ritual he does when he lays down that just cracks my wife up. He will walk around in circles barking and then throws himself down on the floor rolls over on his back and starts wiggling and talking to anyone that will listen. Then just like that he closes his eyes and goes to sleep.

I am very happy that Hoss seems to be maturing at an average pace because at a little shy of three and a half months Hoss contracted the Parvo virus. This virus is especially devastating as it attacks without warning and the life expectancy of the dog is at best 50-50. The virus attacks the lining of the stomach and the intestines, damaging it and opening the dog up to secondary infections, which if the dehydration and blood loss do not kill the dog, then the infections will. Early diagnoses and treatment were vital in Hoss’ recovery. I am not sure of where he picked it up but I know that it is sound advice not to take your dog out of the home environment. or take it around any dogs that you are not sure of their vaccinations, until he or she has had all of it’s sets of vaccinations. I will never make that mistake again.

I am so happy that I have this second chance to watch Hoss grow and develop into the fine dog I know he has the potential to be. We can not take Hoss to his classes as we had planned because he could still be contagious to the other dogs. My wife has taken on the roll of trainer as she has taken and trained all of our GSD’s in the past and is also training him in German commands. He now sits, stays, heels on the leash, sits when she stops or crosses the road, and turns with her on a dime.  Even my wife comments that he is so smart and picks up new commands with very little trouble. I am a true believer in this breeds intelligence and temperament. Now if someone could tell me how to teach Hoss the cat is not one of his chew toys he would be the perfect puppy.
Accomplishments: TD, IABCA International Championship,  BIS Rare Breed

Pharaoh is a really easy dog to be around, he is slightly aloof with some strangers but once he meets someone he warms up very quick.   He has an awsome temperament and turns heads everywhere he goes.

We hope to show him again in the IABCA this summer and hopefully get to one Rarities or ARBA show at least in the Chicago area.  Pharaoh loves kids, his soccer ball, and a good swim.

Pharaoh is in the midst of his first breeding so we are hoping for spring puppies. Pharaoh's Penn Hip Scored in the 90th percentile with no sign of DJD.
