Health and Suggested Reading

If would like to learn more about raw diet for you dog, you can join the Raw Feeding Email list. There is a great number of educated long-term raw feeders on this list, who can provide you info on their learning journey, and how they feed their dogs. You'll find out really quickly that there isn't a lot involved with feeding a correct diet. This list keeps strictly "on topic", so you won't be distracted by other information, nor people trying to sell you stuff.
If your Vet would like to learn more about this type of diet, please refer them to this yahoo group RawVet.
Fund Raising
by Kathy Smith
Hello everyone
As we welcome in the New Year and all the new additions to the King Shepherd family lets not forget the expenses, those services that we all appreciate such as websites, shows, awards, dinners, get-togethers etc is all dependent on your support.
A quick reminder that KSCI items make great gifts for almost everyone on your list and it supports our club. And for those of you who live in cold country or just those who just like the feel of a great sweatshirt, we now have King Shepherd sweatshirts sporting Hunter top KSCI winner of 2007.
Thank you for your support.
All proceeds from fundraising events/items go directly back to the running of the KSCI.
The EPI (exocrine pancreatic insufficiency) Research Fund has been established to help fund research [at Texas A&M Univeristy] aimed at identifying the EPI genetic marker(s) in dogs and developing a screening test. Such a test would help breeders identify carrier animals, so that responsible breeding decisions can be made. Please help raise money for *EPI RESEARCH* just by searching the Internet with GoodSearch.

Rarities is North America's fasting growing conformation dog club who believe in keeping the fun in dog shows, come out and experience it.

Dog Breeding
by Jane Anderson
(reprinted with permission)
In our society, breeding dogs is not a right. It is a privilege that far too many people take for granted. We are guardians of our dogs, and we must ensure when we breed that we do the best by the dogs, and the best for the new puppy owners.
Learning
- You need to be open to learning. If you already think you know everything, then you are wasting your time reading this page.
- Most people, however, are smart enough to know that learning is a never ending process.(read more...)
